
Dili, Timor-Leste – February 17, 2024 – AQUILA Foundation, a not-for profit organisation committed to helping individuals to discover ‘Who I Am!’, proudly launched its Community Service initiative in Dili in partnership with Pelican Grammar School.This exciting program, which commenced on February 16th will culminate in a Music Festival on July 27th. The objective of this project is to foster essential skills development, community spirit, and empowerment among the youth of Dili.
The initiative commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony at the MJFFD Community Manleauna Lidun on Friday, February 16th. Over 100 enthusiastic children and adults from the Manleauna community graced the event, engaging wholeheartedly in the program’s offerings. The event featured exciting previews of upcoming activities, captivating cultural performances, and an interactive opportunity for attendees to register for forthcoming events.Notably, in attendance were esteemed guests including Mr Jakob Tilman Soares , Chief Soco of Suco Manleuana ,Mr Antonio de Jesus , Chief Aldeia Lidun and Sister Fransisca da Costa, from the Community of MJFFD Manleuana., who added to the event’s significance with their presence and support.
The AQUILA Foundation Community Service programme offers a schedule of weekly community service activities designed to engage young people and equip them with valuable skills. These programs will be expertly led by a team of experienced teachers from Pelican Grammar School, who will guide participants through engaging weekly activities. Among these enriching experiences are Music & Dance sessions, Art & Drawing workshops, and Cooking Skills classes.
More than just acquiring skills, the program emphasises community service, encouraging participants to give back to their local neighbourhoods through various projects. This fosters a sense of responsibility, compassion, and active citizenship among the youth.
